Installation

Clone the repository to a permanent place and run a link script. The scripts only create symlinks and move conflicting files aside.

Requirements

  • bash, git and python3 (the Codex agent renderer and the Vibe config update use it).
  • Optional but recommended: nosecrets for the pre-commit secret scan.
Platform Status
macOS Tested.
Linux Expected to work, not actively tested.
Windows Not supported natively. Use WSL2; inside WSL the Linux path applies.

Clone

The symlinks point into the clone, so put it somewhere permanent:

The scripts resolve the repository from their own location, so they can be run from any directory.

./install/link-all.sh

Runs link-claude.sh, link-codex.sh and link-mistral.sh in that order and stops at the first error.

./install/link-claude.sh

Creates ~/.claude/ if needed and links CLAUDE.md, agents and skills.

./install/link-codex.sh

Creates ~/.codex/ if needed. If codex-agents/ is missing it runs the renderer once; if codex-config.toml is missing it copies codex-config.example.toml. Then it links AGENTS.md, config.toml, agents and skills.

./install/link-mistral.sh

Needs an existing ~/.vibe/config.toml; without one it prints a skip: line and exits successfully. Otherwise it adds the repository’s skills/ to skill_paths and codex-agents/ to agent_paths, skipping entries that are already present.

A run of link-all.sh on a machine without Vibe, with the clone in ~/ai-agent-config:

All configs linked.

Caution

An existing ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md, ~/.claude/skills or similar target that is not a symlink is moved to <path>.bak before the link is created. Merge anything you want to keep from the .bak copy into the repository afterwards.

Enable the hook

If you plan to edit subagents, enable the repository’s hooks once per clone:

git config core.hooksPath .githooks

Uninstall

The scripts have no uninstall step. Remove the symlinks (for example ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md, ~/.claude/agents, ~/.claude/skills and the four links in ~/.codex/) and restore any .bak files you want back.
